Off to the Concrete Jungle... Day 3

Wednesday was our busiest day as we went on a Garment District Tour. We started our tour in Mood Designer Fabrics, which is where Project Runway is filmed when they get their fabrics.

Our tour was led by Imani Alexander who owns her own resort wear line. We were set a 'Project Runway' type task where we had to find a new patterned fabric for Imani to use to relaunch her line with a new a fabric. We were given 10 minutes to roam around the shop floor to find the perfect pattern. We then had to pitch how we would style the patterned dress for different scenarios.

After this activity we met the Wanderlust girls who talked to us about blogging which was very insightful.

We then headed to magazine shop, which had every fashion publication there was. Unfortunately, we couldn't take pictures inside but i could spend all day there looking at all the different magazines on offer.

Inside the magazine shop we listened to Natasha Huang Smith a PR lady. She told us about a typical day when working in PR. This was interesting as she has long days starting at 5am and normally finishing late after different events.

Once the tour was finished Nicky and I went to 'The Harold' for a spinach and chicken Cesar salad, which was delicious. We then relaxed walking the streets of New York until 4pm.

This was when we headed to the Rockefeller Centre to watch the sun setting. It was absolutely beautiful to see the sun setting on the Concrete Jungle. However, it was very cold! We then headed to Grand Central Station, to re-live the beginning scene of gossip girl! I was on the look out for Serena Van De Woodsen.

After spending a while watching the beautiful view, we headed to Chelsea Market on the subway. The Chelsea Market had so many wonderful choices for food. The 5 of us decided go to Giovanni Rana's where I had a lobster filled pasta in garlic and white whine sauce which was absolutely divine!
