Missoni - Art of Colour Exhibition

I recently went to the Missoni Art of Colour Exhibition at the Fashion and Textiles Museum by London Bridge Underground Station.

This exhibition celebrated Missoni's colourful designs and patterns. We started the exhibition by looking at different colourful abstract artwork that they were inspired by artists including Sonia Deluaney, Gino Severini and Nino Di Salvatore.

We then entered a room that included some of Ottavio Missoni's large colourful tapestries. I loved these as the mix of materials, colours and patterns all come together beautifully. Across the room there was a pyramid of mannequins wearing Missoni designs throughout the years. Behind the pyramid of Missoni mannequins was a curtain of colourful knitting threads that would be used in Missoni garments. The curtain gradually changed shades and colours as it went on.

Continuing the exhibition upstairs we saw the sheets of square boxed paper that Missoni created their colour palettes on. They used felt tips and knitting threads for this process. The rest of the upstairs continued to display inspiration for their designs and colour themes through art, sculptures and mixed media. Towards the end of the exhibition mood boards of the experimental stages of Missoni's knitted patterns and colour ways were displayed.

The final room show a documentary of Missoni's design and creative journey. The room was kitted out with Missoni Home furniture - rugs, knitted wall mirrors and colourful bean bags.

I thought this exhibition was beautifully presented and wonderfully colourful however I thought it was slightly on the small side. I would have loved if the Missoni collections were spaced out so you could look at each individual outfit in more detail instead of looking at the Missoni collection as a collective piece of the exhibition. I would have liked to have known the years of each garment as no information was provided which I thought was strange. Overall I though it was an interesting exhibition but it was a shame you couldn't look at the clothes in more detail.

The Gucci Jordaan Loafer Dupe

The Gucci Jordan Loafer is a popular shoe among celebrities and models such as Emma Roberts, Alexa Chung and Gwen Stefani. As you can see below these Gucci loafers are so versatile they will go with anything!

These loafers are classic and come in lots in different colours. This season Topshop have made a similar looking loafer. Instead of paying the £400 you can get yourself a similar looking real leather loafer for £62. Topshop have made this shoe in two different colours - white and black. I have tried some on and they were extremely comfortable. I decided to get the black pair as they look classic and will always be on trend. It will be a nice change from wearing trainers all the time and they will immediately smarten up an outfit.

Exhibitionism @ the Saatchi

Last Friday, I went to the Satchi to see the Rolling Stones Exhibition, which celebrates 50 years of the Rock band. We were taken on a journey through the years. The room we started in was a recreation of their first apartment together. It was very messy, with plates, takeaway boxes and clothes everywhere. To be honest, it reminded me of my university halls kitchen which is messy and pretty disgusting most of the time! There was also a screen showing how many shows and tours they had done over the 50 years of the band. It was incredible to see how many shows they had done and in so many countries. The Rolling Stones just don't seem to stop!

The next few rooms displayed their amazing guitars and drum sets that they had used over the years. There songs were playing through headphones for people to listen to. It was an amazing atmosphere in those rooms as it seemed that some visitors were taken right back to when the song was released with a few people dancing and singing along to their songs.

We next moved onto the fashion side of the band. In the early days of the Rolling Stones they tried to copy the style of The Beatles which definitely did not suit a rock band at all! Through the years their style evolved and you could see who would wear what. Mick Jagger's style was the most out eccentric out of them all. When they had all their outfits on display, it was surprising that many of their outfits made for them were 'unknown'.

The penultimate room had stage set mock ups for theirs and artwork created for the brand. The story and creative process behind the iconic logo of the Rolling Stones was revealed. Mick Jagger was incredibly interested in Hinduism and the goddess Kali, who is the goddess of power, creation, preservation and destruction. Kali has her tongue out in drawings of her. I thought this was so interesting and so unexpected.

As we approached the final room we were handed some 3D glasses. I was not sure what to expect but to end the experience at the exhibition we watched a song from a recent concert they had done. I loved this experience as I thought it brought he whole exhibition together.

I could not recommend this exhibition enough. Even if you aren't a Rolling Stones fan there is something for everyone - music, fashion, art and set design featured in this incredible exhibition.

Perfume Brand Promotional Video Shoot

We decided to shoot our promotional video on Tuesday. We decided to open a wardrobe that revealed our rose gold hangers with some clothes that fitted our colour palette. Those rose gold hangers are to die for, and only £3 at Primark! What a bargain! We used some of my clothes in the shoot. We chose 5 pieces from my wardrobe that went with our colour palette. As we had the rose gold hangers we chose blush pink and black clothes.

Perfume Brand Photoshoot

Welcome back!

Monday was a very exciting day for my fragrance group. We got to shoot our promotional advert in the university photo studio. This was the first time I was in a photo studio so I was nervous but also really excited to see our storyboards, sketches and ideas come to life with a photographer and a few props. Prior to the photoshoot we had created a storyboard and mood boards choosing the colour scheme and various flatlay ideas.

Our fragrance is a wardrobe fragrance that will keep your clothes fresh for longer. Our photoshoot went really well. Here are some of my favourite images from our shoot.

Vogue 100 at the National Portrait Gallery

Recently I went to the Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery; which is part of British Vogue's centenary celebrations. It showcased the front covers of Vogues over the last 100 years. The exhibition worked in reverse, starting with the 2010s and moving back in reverse chronologically to 1916.

It was so interesting to see how cultural aspects and history affected the covers over the years. A big point is that now, models on the covers are always known but at the beginning a big feature was art or unknown models. Familiar photos of Cara Delevigne, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss were on display. In addition the transition from film photography to digital was a big feature of the exhibition.

The incredible exhibition is not on for much longer, so go before you regret not seeing fantastic photos from Mario Testino, Tim Walker, Horst and Helmut Newton.

IVY PARK Launch

Beyonce's launched a sports line on Thursday in Topshop, Net-a-Porter, JD Sports and Selfridges.
I headed to my local Topshop in Nottingham which was surprisingly quiet seeing as this was a huge launch and crashed the Topshop website in the morning.

The collection was surprisingly wearable with sports bras, colourful leggings, hoodies and bodysuits on sale. The pricing was reasonable; ranging from £8 to £160. Main colours apart of the collection were grey, black, white, electric blue and baby pink.

I can't wait to purchase something from this collection. Fingers crossed I'll look like Queen B when I sport her new collection.
